Popular Disney Ride Sets Permanent Closure Timeline

11 June 2026 at 10:00

One of Disney California Adventure’s most beloved dark rides is officially on borrowed time.

Monsters, Inc. Mike and Sulley to the Rescue!

While the attraction isn’t closing tomorrow, Disney fans now have a clearer picture of when they’ll need to plan a final ride. For guests who love visiting Monstropolis alongside Mike, Sulley, and Boo, the countdown is officially underway as Disneyland Resort continues its massive expansion efforts. Here’s what you need to know about the permanent closure timeline for Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! and what it means for the future of Disney California Adventure.

Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! Will Close in 2027

Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! will be permanently closing in 2027. The good news is that the timeline actually got extended. The ride was originally scheduled to close in early 2026, but Disney pushed the closure back to give guests more time with the attraction before it’s gone for good. Disney has not yet announced a specific closing date within 2027, so there’s no hard deadline to race against just yet, but the clock is definitely ticking.

Mike in Disney California Adventure (he doesn’t move)

The ride has been a fixture at DCA since 2006, and it’s a fan favorite, especially for families with younger kids. It’s the kind of attraction that sneaks up on you as a highlight of the day, so it’s worth making sure it’s on your list if you’re heading to the park before the end of next year.

Why Is the Ride Closing?

The closure is tied directly to the massive DisneylandForward expansion project, which is reshaping Disney California Adventure in a big way. The space where the Monsters, Inc. ride currently sits will eventually become a brand-new Avatar land, which Disney has confirmed will be inspired by the sequel films rather than replicating the existing Pandora at Animal Kingdom.

©Disney

The new Avatar area is expected to include at least one unique ride, described as an adventure boat ride, and is not anticipated to open for several more years (we’re still waiting on an exact timeline from Disney). So even after the Monsters, Inc. ride closes, guests will have a bit of a wait before the replacement land is up and running.

The Disneyland Expansion Is Just Getting Started. Here’s What Might Come Next…

The Extended Timeline Is a Win for Disneyland Guests

Here’s the thing: Disney didn’t just push back this closure randomly. Disneyland’s project management team found a way to sequence construction of the new Avengers Campus attractions, a new Coco boat ride, and the Avatar land without requiring the Monsters, Inc. ride to close on the original schedule or impacting the timeline for those new additions. That’s actually a pretty smart move, because it means fewer closures and more to do for guests visiting DCA during this heavy construction period.

Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!

The focus on keeping the ride open a little longer also reflects Disney’s ongoing push to offer more for younger guests, since the Monsters, Inc. attraction has always been a strong draw for families with little ones.

What You Should Do Before It Closes

If you’ve got a trip on the horizon, this ride should be on your must-do list. The closure is still a ways out, but 2027 will arrive before you know it. Whether it’s your first time stepping into Monstropolis or your hundredth, this is one worth savoring before it’s gone.

Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!

Disney is keeping a lot of plates spinning at Disneyland Resort right now, and changes are happening fast. Keep it locked right here to DFB for the latest updates on the Monsters, Inc. closure, the new Avatar land, and everything else going on at DCA.

NEWS: Changes Hit Disneyland Park Hopping

9 June 2026 at 11:32

Park Hopping just got EASIER in Disneyland. Yes, we are just as excited as you are.

Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland

In Disneyland, Park Hopping lets you jump back and forth between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, but to do this, you need a Park Hopper ticket or a Magic Key pass, their version of Annual Passes. There used to be an 11 AM time limit: you couldn’t hop between parks until after 11 AM, but good news—that’s all changing.

Disney Vacation Planner

There is no longer an 11 AM waiting period to Park Hop, starting on June 9th. Yes!

Dale!

Now, it’s important to note that you might still need to make a park pass reservation, depending on which type of ticket you have. Magic Key Holders, this includes you! You’ll need to choose your park pass reservation for the first park that you are starting in and scanning into first.

Let’s go see Mickey!

This new rule change allows for so much more flexibility. Being able to hop back and forth in the morning is amazing. You can scan into Disneyland, rope drop one ride, and then head to Disney California Adventure for your next one.

Storybook Land Canal Boats

One thing we love about the change is that if reservations are full at one park, you can grab a spot at the other and head there immediately. Easy peasy!

REVIEW: Disneyland Dropped 4 New Snacks, and They Might Be The Prettiest We’ve Ever Seen

A new month means new treats all over the Disney parks, and YES, we get excited about that each and every time.

Time for new treats!

We headed over to Disneyland Resort as soon as we heard there were FOUR new treats for us to try, spanning both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. While we love the look of all four of them (gorgeous and FUN are great words for them all), we’ve got to admit that there was one of them that let us down in the taste department.

Over in DCA, we headed over to Trolley Treats for not one, but TWO new snacks, starting with the S’mores Marshmallow Wand for $8.29. Are these anything super special? Not really, it’s marshmallows on a stick and covered in chocolate, but we did love that this one had caramel and graham cracker as well, which really helped to bring that s’mores flavor forward. We do wish there was a bit more of the graham cracker to better balance out the s’mores flavor, but that was a minor complaint for a delicious treat.

S’mores Marshmallow Wand

You can also snag the Clarabelle Caramel Apple here for $16.49. This is a traditional caramel apple to its core — a Granny Smith Apple dipped in Caramel and Colored Chocolatey Coating, but with some extra goodies on top. Clarabelle’s nose is made from Nutter Butter, her horns are sour gummies, and she has additional marshmallow and chocolate decorations, too! If you love caramel apples, this is a must-grab, especially if you’re able to show Clarabelle for a fun photo op, like we did!

Clarabelle Caramel Apple

We also headed over to Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff for the Refresher Flight for $10.29! This is where you can get four small drinks in one, which are great for hot days. Our favorite was the mango with popping mango pearls, which was super refreshing. The mango flavor was the same all around, so you’ve gotta really love mango for this one.

Refresher Flight

Our second favorite was the Cherry with Nerds, because it literally tasted like we were eating a Nerds rope. Third for us was the Blue Raspberry Pomegranate, because it was quite an interesting flavor combination. We loved the popping pomegranate tang flavor with the super sweet blue raspberry flavor, as they went super well together. Finally, the Apple Blueberry was another fun combo, because it tasted like we were drinking a frozen apple juice, and the blueberry was a fun additional fruit flavor. These are all VERY sweet, so prepare yourself for that, but we’re big fans!

Consider us big fans!

Then, over in Disneyland, we stopped by Jolly Holiday for the Rainbow Linzer Cookie for $7.49. While this treat was absolutely stunning, unfortunately, the taste wasn’t a winner. The shortbread had a pretty typical flavor, and we appreciated the size of them for the price, but the jam in the middle tasted very artificial. It wasn’t our favorite, but if you’re a fan of shortbread and don’t mind a more artificial jam, then you may love it!

The MAJOR Reason Why This Popular Disney Parade Isn’t Happening in 2026

Oogie Boogie Bash in Disney California Adventure is just a few short months away, and we’re already gearing up for tickets to go on sale on June 18th (though Magic Key Holders get early access on June 16th).

©Disney

It’s already been announced that there will be some pretty significant changes at the party this year, with one of the biggest being that the popular Frightfully Fun Parade won’t be taking place. Instead, Disney has added a new addition that highlights Madame Leota and Haunted Mansion, but what exactly is the reasoning behind the lack of parade? Well, once we heard it, we realized just how much it made sense.

Just a few days ago, Disney confirmed a few of the offerings coming to Oogie Boogie Bash this year, and their wording subtly announced that the new Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party would be replacing the iconic Frightfully Fun Parade this year. That’s certainly a bummer, as we love the parade (though we are looking forward to seeing what this new offering will look like), but what’s the reason for the change?

Frightfully Fun Parade

According to the Orange County Register, it’s believed that the reason for the lack of the parade this year is due to the current construction in the park on the new Coco attraction. As the Haunted Mansion section of the parade is many visitors’ favorite, we can totally see why Disney decided to center their new attraction all around that theming. From the concept art, it looks like we’ll get to see Madame Leota herself, as well as the grave diggers, ballroom dancers, cemetery caretaker, and, of course, some ghosts.

Frightfully Fun Parade

The new Coco attraction is expected to arrive in the area south of Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta and behind Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, in a Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier area that is predominantly backstage right now. This will be the first-ever Coco ride to exist, and while it may not seem like we can see a lot of construction right now, it’s possible that the issue for the parade would be the backstage space that’s currently under construction — those floats do take up a lot of space! All we know about the ride right now is that we’ll be joining Miguel on a special journey, seeing characters and hearing unforgettable songs from Coco on a trip to the Land of the Dead.

©Disney

Going to miss the Headless Horseman, who usually would ride down the parade route ahead of the rest of the floats? Don’t worry, Disney has confirmed that throughout the night, you’ll see Ichabod Crane hurry through the park as he tries to evade the sinister specter of the Headless Horseman astride his dark steed. Yes, that means we should be able to see BOTH characters, which is super unique!

Disney CONFIRMS Snacks for Halloween 2026

3 June 2026 at 12:10

Halloween at Disneyland is coming soon! This season comes with rare characters, spooky parades, and free candy – but here at Disney Food Blog, we can’t forget about all of the food!

Haunted Heatwave Pizza

Disney just confirmed some of the Halloween menus are coming back for 2026, and we just got a sneak peek!

Click for your FREE Disneyland Snack Map

The Heatwave Pizza from Alien Pizza Planet is returning this year! This is a pizza with spiced blush sauce topped with mozzarella and pepper jack, Italian sausage, classic and crispy cupped pepperoni, smoked bratwurst, and sliced red Fresno chiles, garnished with basil and hot honey drizzle.

Haunted Heatwave Pizza

This is basically a meat-lover’s pizza with a bit of sweet heat from the hot honey, but it wasn’t as hot as we were expecting. Without paying attention, it’s kind of hard to make out what’s what, as everything just kinda tastes like a spicy sausage or pepperoni from the hot honey and chili flakes. We did enjoy it overall, but just know it won’t knock your socks off!

Haunted Heatwave Pizza

Also returning this year is the Oogie Boogie Lemonade from Smokejumpers Grill. This non-alcoholic drink is made with Green Apple Minute-Maid Lemonade, cherry-flavored popping spheres, and raspberry sauce.

©Disney

Plus, the Slow Burnin’ Mac & Cheese Cone is coming back to Disney California Adventure at the Cozy Cone Motel 3 – Chili Cone Queso. This is fresh-cooked pasta tossed with a spicy red pepper cheese sauce in a bread cone topped with crushed chile-cheese puffs!

Slow-Burning Mac and Cheese

We think this cauldron is pumpernickel bread, which explains the dark colored dough. But pumpernickel isn’t our jam, so this wasn’t a win for us. Inside this cauldron is macaroni in a spicy red pepper cheese sauce. It’s definitely got a fiery hue. It is, indeed, spicy, which is great if you love heat! The bright red topping is crushed red chile-cheese puffs (which are basically Flamin’ Hot Cheetos!). They add a little textural interest, but there’s just not much of it on there. Gimme more, please! Overall, the Slow Burnin’ Mac and Cheese Cone was just okay, which is a bummer because it had so much potential!

Slow-Burnin’ Mac and Cheese

And for dessert, the Caramel Apple Cheesecake is also coming back to the Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe. This is a caramel cheesecake with caramelized apple filling finished with caramel drip, orange and white chocolate mousse, chocolate flakes, and a chocolate bat.

©Disney

And, over at Paradise Garden Grill, you can grab the Chilaquiles Carnitas Torta with red chilaquiles, refried beans, avocado spread, queso fresco, pickled red onions, and a fried egg served with chips.

We’re so excited to eat all of the treats we haven’t tried yet at Oogie Boogie Bash. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disney food news!

Everything NEW Confirmed for Disney’s Oogie Boogie Bash This Year

3 June 2026 at 10:40

Let’s just skip straight through summer and start thinking about fall, specifically Halloween Time in Disneyland. Now, it’s my opinion that Halloween Time in Disneyland is the BEST time in Disneyland because Disneyland goes ALL out for the spookiest holiday of the year.

Oogie Boogie at Oogie Boogie Bash

That includes the special ticketed event Oogie Boogie Bash, which is so popular that all of the parties sell out within DAYS. There is already so much to see, do, and eat at Oogie Boogie Bash, but Disney just confirmed something NEW will be coming to this year’s party.

Something NEW is coming to this year’s party: Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party. This party will bring iconic moments from the Haunted Mansion to the streets of California Adventure. It will feature multiple “moments for Madame Leota to host her spirited séance and swinging wake filled with happy haunts, ghostly dancing, and ghoulish delight, inviting you to partake in a ghastly good time that beckons all 999 ghosts.”

This year, the Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party will offer something new: a preferred viewing area for Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake.

Park Hopping Rule Change Hits Disneyland Next Week

3 June 2026 at 09:00

When it comes to park hopping, Disneyland blows Disney World out of the water, despite an annoying complication. Well, after years of said annoying complication, it’s about to get even easier to bounce between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure!

DCA Entrance

When the Disneyland theme parks reopened after the 2020 pandemic closures, a morning restriction was placed on park hopping between the two parks, which created some annoying limitations. While the change was billed as temporary, it’s stuck around all the way into 2026. However, that restriction is FINALLY about to lift — and most folks are excited about the change!

Beginning June 9th, 2026, Disneyland Resort guests with Park Hopper tickets and Magic Key passes can go between the two parks any time during operational hours!

Disneyland

Until next week, guests had to select which park they wanted to visit first during the reservation process, and then they couldn’t park hop until 11 AM. That rule will now be gone.

That doesn’t mean the reservation system is gone, however. Guests will still need to make a park pass reservation and indicate which park they plan on starting in.

Disney California Adventure

The ability to park hop is subject to availability, so Disney still wants to get headcounts to get an idea of how many people will be at the parks and which park might be more popular. Either way, if neither park is at max capacity, it won’t really matter which park you select first anymore.

This flexibility is reminiscent of a time before the pandemic, when Disneyland was famous for its go-with-the-flow vibe. While the reservation system still controversially remains, the easing of the park hopping returns this relaxed vibe — even if it’s just a little bit. The ability to change your schedule on a whim and not worry about rules is not taken for granted among Disneyland visitors and Magic Key passholders.

World of Color

A 50% Lyft Discount Just Dropped for an Exclusive Group of Disney Fans

1 June 2026 at 12:33

We’ve decided it’s a Disneyland summer! The original Disney theme park is continuing its 70th anniversary celebration, which ends on August 9th, 2026.

Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland

If you’re heading there for some summer fun and you’re staying at a Good Neighbor Hotel, you can save BIG on getting to and from the parks easily. We’ve got all of the details here!

Disneyland Resort has officially partnered with Lyft to save you some money this summer! If you’re staying at a Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotel, you qualify for discounts when going to and from the theme parks. Disney shared that this will give guests “an easy and reliable way to move between their hotel and the Disneyland Resort area, enhancing the overall guest experience with flexible, on-demand transportation.”

©Disney

If you’re a new Lyft user, you can use code 50MAGIC for 50% off two rides. If you’ve used Lyft before, you can use code XL10 for 10% off one XL ride to the parks. This special is running from May 28th until September 8th, so it won’t be forever. If you don’t know, Disney works with several Good Neighbor Hotels.

©Marriott

These nearby partner hotels vary in proximity to the parks. Some of them are easily walkable, while others require transportation like buses, shuttles, or rideshares. A hotel may look close on a map, but still take significantly longer to reach than expected once crowds, crosswalks, and traffic enter the equation. We’ve made this mistake before, so don’t be like us and end up buying rideshares you didn’t budget for. These hotels can be across the street or miles down the road, depending on which one you select.

The Anaheim Hotel

There are 57 official Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels, and not all of them offer easy access to the theme parks, so this discount can be a great way to save a little bit before you meet up with Mickey. They aren’t all created equally, and they aren’t operated by Disney, so be sure to do your research before selecting your hotel if you stay at a Good Neighbor. One of the Good Neighbor Hotels we find ourselves going back to is the Anaheim Hotel!

The view from our room!

We appreciate any little deal that can help us save a little before, during, or after our trip. Be sure to keep following DFB for more Disney news, updates, discounts, and more.

This NEW Feature Will Make Using the Disneyland App 10x EASIER

28 May 2026 at 11:18

When we’re at Disneyland, the Disneyland app is a lifesaver. Where else can you check ride wait times, mobile order food, and find the bathrooms all in one place?

©Disney

While using our Disneyland app recently, we noticed a brand-new addition. Now, you can view guides to the lands in the park!

When we were recently using the Disneyland app, we were able to view a land and see new guides for each land! ToonTown was the first land that came up, so we could see an overview of the land and a little bit about it.

©Disney

There was also a list of ride wait times and height requirements for every ride in the land. We’re pretty sure this is just in testing since not all of us had the feature on our apps, which would explain why the ride times aren’t posted. If it becomes permanent, this would be an awesome feature if it’s your first time at Disneyland with kids!

©Disney

We also found a Dining section! It listed every restaurant in ToonTown and even showed when mobile ordering was available. This will be a lifesaver during a lunch or dinner rush!

©Disney

This new feature isn’t limited to ToonTown; you can also see a guide for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! Like ToonTown, there’s a full list of attractions and dining information. But we noticed something new in here – you can see the locations of all the shops in the land!

©Disney

Plus, there’s also a tab for Iconic Characters. With one click, you can see the next time for every Galaxy’s Edge character! No more switching between tabs or manually searching for them.

©Disney

We loved using these guides in our app, and we hope Disney makes it a permanent feature. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disney World news!

Why Disneyland First Timers Keep Booking the Wrong Hotel

25 May 2026 at 10:00

Picking the right hotel for a Disneyland vacation is a deceptively tough task…

Disneyland Hotel

When you’re planning your very first Disneyland vacation, booking a hotel feels like one of the easiest decisions on the list. You see a Disney-owned hotel, you assume it’s the best option, you check out the theming and prices to decide between the hotels, and boom — reservation complete. But a LOT of Disneyland first-timers end up realizing way too late that they booked the wrong hotel for the kind of trip they actually wanted.

Unlike Disney World — where the hotel scene is a HUGE part of the experience — Disneyland’s setup is much more intimate. Featuring only three on-property resorts, the options are seemingly limited, and that can force first-time Disneyland visitors to make a regrettable decision.

Disneyland Hotel

One of the biggest misconceptions about Disneyland’s hotels is assuming that “Disney-owned” automatically means convenient. Yes, all three Disneyland Resort hotels are technically close to the parks. But the way you actually get to the parks is wildly different depending on where you stay.

Let’s start with the gold standard: Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. This hotel has the biggest advantage on property because it offers a direct entrance into Disney California Adventure. You can practically roll out of bed and end up inside Grizzly Peak within minutes. For guests planning heavy California Adventure days, that convenience is impossible to beat. But be ready to pay premium prices for a room here…

Grand California Hotel

Meanwhile, Pixar Place Hotel USED to have its own dedicated entrance into Disney California Adventure, but that entrance is gone. That means guests now have a longer walk than many first-timers expect. It’s still near the parks and esplanade, but it’s no longer the secret shortcut hotel it used to be.

Pixar Place Hotel

Then there’s the Disneyland Hotel. Back in the day, this hotel had direct monorail access, but now guests have to walk through Downtown Disney to reach the park entrances, and that walk can feel surprisingly long after a full day in the parks. Yes, you CAN hop on the Monorail into Tomorrowland in Disneyland Park, but that only helps if the line isn’t backed up and if Tomorrowland is actually where you want to end up. This isn’t a terrible option, however, since the Monorail station isn’t all too far from the security checkpoint that connects the hotel to Downtown Disney.

Disneyland Monorail

And then we have the Good Neighbor Hotels. These nearby partner hotels vary in proximity. Some visitors assume every off-site hotel is a short walk away, but that’s not always true. Some are walkable, while others require transportation like buses, shuttles, or rideshares. A hotel may look close on a map, but still take significantly longer to reach than expected once crowds, crosswalks, and traffic enter the equation. And even if they are walkable, sometimes walking to your hotel room in a non-Disney bubble at midnight after a long day isn’t the most enticing prospect…

At the same time, the entire resort area is so condensed that some off-site hotels are honestly MORE convenient than certain Disney-owned hotels. There are Good Neighbor Hotels directly across the street from the Harbor entrance that can get you to security faster than guests staying at the Disneyland Hotel on busy mornings.

At Disneyland, proximity is EVERYTHING. It’s a priority for a lot of people to circle when deciding to visit Disneyland versus Disney World. If you care about saving time on your commute, hotel proximity to your preferred destinations is the first piece of homework you’ll want to do.

Parkestry Rooftop Bar at the JW Marriott

Another mistake Disneyland first-timers tend to make is that they assume that staying at a Disney-owned hotel is simply the norm. This ain’t Disney World, folks. Sure, the theming is great, the hotels are beautiful, there are perks, and the amenities rock. But wow, the prices can get intense.

The Grand Californian can easily cost well over $600 through $900 or more PER NIGHT for a standard room, and the Disneyland Hotel and Pixar Place aren’t cheap either, often landing in the same luxury-tier pricing category as Disney World’s deluxe resorts.

Grand Californian Hotel room

For some families, that splurge absolutely feels worth it. But for others? They realize afterward that they barely spent any time in the hotel at all, which really makes you start to wonder if it’s worth it. You can save hundreds or even thousands of dollars by staying at a nearby Good Neighbor Hotel instead.

Yes, you do lose some Disney perks — most notably the complimentary Lightning Lane perk offered to Disneyland Resort hotel guests. But here’s the thing: In many cases, guests can save enough money by staying off-site to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass themselves and still have plenty left over for dining, souvenirs, or extra park days. The savings become even bigger if you cash in on hotel rewards points — something you won’t get at a Disney-owned hotel.

Lightning Lane at Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

That math surprises a LOT of first-time visitors. Staying off-site may not feel quite as immersive, but if your priority is maximizing park time while minimizing hotel costs, it can easily be the smarter financial decision. If you’re only looking for a place to shower and sleep, check out the Good Neighbor spots. If you want your hotel to be just as immersive at the parks, the Disney-owned trio of hotels each offers something special and worthwhile.

Views

The good news? Even if you don’t select the ideal Disneyland Resort area hotel perfectly on your first go-around, there’s no reason you still won’t have an amazing vacation. Everything you need is so close to wherever you are, and there are always workarounds and shortcuts you’ll find to enhance your vacation. So don’t sweat it too much — there’s a reason it’s called “The Happiest Place on Earth”!

NEWS: Disneyland Issues Statement Regarding Nearby Hazmat Situation

25 May 2026 at 08:33

On Thursday, May 21st, a hazmat incident and potential chemical leak began in Garden Grove, California, located just five miles from Knott’s Berry Farm and Disneyland.

Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure

Neither park is in the identified evacuation zone, and both are currently still open. Disneyland has now released an official statement regarding the incident. Here’s what you need to know if you’re planning a visit to the Happiest Place on Earth right now.

UPDATE: As of 9 AM PDT on Monday, May 25th, Garden Grove officials have confirmed that the GKN Aerospace chemical tank is no longer a threat of catastrophic explosion. Crews said that a crack has formed in the tank, which is reducing pressure, the Orange County Register has reported. The temperature inside the tank has also decreased from at least 100 degrees to 93 degrees. The evacuation of thousands of residents in Garden Grove and nearby communities remains intact.

A hazmat incident at GKN Aerospace on Western Avenue in Garden Grove occurred on Thursday, May 21st, and has since worsened over the weekend. The crisis involves a malfunctioning chemical tank that threatens to explode and release a toxic cloud, which would affect hundreds of thousands of people in the area and for miles around, including Disneyland.

Sleeping Beauty Castle

As of now, Disneyland is not in the identified evacuation zone, but many are wondering whether it’s safe to visit the parks. Disney officials have now put out a statement advising that, at this time, ” there is no impact to Disneyland Resort due to this situation and the resort remains open to guests.”

Disney said that they are actively monitoring the situation and taking guidance from local authorities.

Disneyland

The statement goes on to say, “The Disneyland Resort is approximately five miles from the incident and is not in the identified evacuation zone. Updates can be found by following Orange County Fire Authority on social media.”

Disney is advising people to check the local guidelines before travel. Road closures, detours, or traffic disruptions in the surrounding area may impact how people get to and from the resort.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland

So, while Disneyland isn’t in the evacuation zone and the parks remain open, travel to and from Disneyland could be impacted due to the chemical incident.

Disneyland

Currently, the situation has forced 40,000 people to evacuate in an impact zone, which includes parts of Garden Grove, Anaheim, Cypress, Stanton, and Westminster. When speaking about the situation, a Knott’s Berry Farm employee spokesperson said, “The safety and well-being of our guests and team members is a cornerstone of our business. We are working closely with our partners at the Orange County Fire Authority to actively monitor the situation. At this time, the park has not been impacted.”

Disney California Adventure

As of the evening of Saturday, May 23rd, the Disneyland union instructed Cast Members who feel unsafe and are affected by the chemical leak to stay home. We also know that while Disneyland itself isn’t in the potential blast zone, many Disneyland guests stay in the Garden Grove area, and others travel through it on their way to the park. The governor has also declared a State of Emergency.

During the afternoon on Sunday, May 24th, Orange County Fire Authority Interim Chief TJ McGovern said firefighters did “a recon mission on the tank” late Saturday night, during which they discovered a crack, which could be relieving some of the pressure, ABC7 has reported.

This is an ongoing situation, and we will update you as we learn more. Stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest updates.

REVIEW: 6 NEW Disney Snacks Just Dropped…And We Have Thoughts

23 May 2026 at 11:25

It’s no secret that when it comes to food, we’ll probably choose Disneyland over Disney World, especially when it comes to snacks. One word: churros. Need we say more?

Apple Pie Churro

Now, Disneyland is ALWAYS dropping some kind of new food and drinks in the parks, so we’re always getting to try new things. Well, Disneyland just dropped some MORE new foods and drinks, and you KNOW we were there to try them. So let’s see what we thought!

First, we headed to Royal Street Veranda in Disneyland Park to grab the New Orleans Mint Julep Float for $9.79. Now, we’re already big fans of the standard Mint Julep, but this one is topped with Mango Sorbet. Now, that means you’re getting a drink that has a lot of fresh mango flavor. The mint is more of an aftertaste, but it still adds a light and refreshing element. It’s even better once it melts a little, and you can just combine everything. Honestly, if we had to choose between this and a regular mint julep, we’d choose this!

New Orleans Mint Julep Float

You can also pick up the Cajun Caesar Chicken Po’Boy for $12.99 here. It’s made with Kale-Romaine Mix tossed with House-made Caesar Dressing, Cajun Chicken, and Croutons on a French Roll. Even if you don’t like Caesar dressing, this has some Cajun spices in it that make it super tasty. This sandwich has a lot of well-cooked chicken on it, so you’re getting your protein. We also loved the crunch the croutons added…we wanted more!

Cajun Caesar Chicken Po’Boy

The bread has a nice crunchy exterior with a chewy interior and didn’t get soggy, even after sitting for a little while. It’s a great sandwich to grab on a hot summer day, and it comes wrapped so you can take it and munch on it while standing in line for a ride. It’s easy to eat on the go. It’s also filling, and maybe even shareable.

How is this so good?

After all that, we moseyed over to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to try some new offerings in honor of the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu at Docking Bay 7. We started with the Bounty Bun with Spiced Beef and Pork with Tomato Chutney, Golden Aïoli, and Sautéed Blue Onions for $15.99. We were really surprised by all the flavors we tasted when we bit into it!

Bounty Bun

The meat is cooked well and has some really nice spices. We got both savory and sweet, and just a tiny bit of heat. The flavors melded so well together that we really couldn’t separate them, which is a good thing. It’s also so unique and has that fun galaxy-inspired look.

It looks fun, too!

We also tried the Adelphi Cheesy Noodles with Fried Chicken Tip-Yip with Pancetta, Toasted Herb Breadcrumbs, and Sweet and Spicy Chili Sauce for $18.99. Um…you had us at “noodles” and “cheese.” It’s similar to the regular Chicken Tip-Yip you can get here, but this is a larger portion, so you’re getting more bang for your buck. It’s also a heavier meal, with the chicken and the super creamy noodles. The chicken has a lovely breading and seasoning.

Adelphi Cheesy Noodles with Fried Chicken Tip-Yip

The sweet and spicy chili sauce comes separately, so you can choose to add it or not, and if you do, it does have a kick. It also adds a lovely extra flavor to everything, though. But this dish doesn’t really need it. It’s a hearty meal, and we’d say this one is worth the price.

Cheesy Noodles

Now, it’s time to head on over to Disney California Adventure to visit Willie’s Churros, which is pretty much the first churro cart you’ll see when you enter the park. There, you can get the Apple Pie Churro for $7.50. It’s a churro rolled in graham cracker sugar and topped with apple pie filling, whipped topping, and caramel drizzle. This is summer and the 4th of July as a dessert. The tart apples with the apple pie filling and sweet cinnamon churro really make it taste like apple pie in churro form. The only thing that didn’t work for us was the whipped cream because it just didn’t add much to the dessert. With that being said, though, who needs a pie crust when you can have a churro instead?

Apple pie meets churro

Speaking of Americana vibes, we ran over to Smokejumpers Grill to grab the Red, White, and Blue Punch for $7.79. It’s made with Sprite and White Cranberry Juice with Blue Raspberry & Cherry Syrups, and topped with Cold Foam. You know those frozen firecracker popsicles? This tastes just like that, except in liquid form. In fact, it surprised us, considering the ingredients, that it tasted just like that! The cold foam adds a nice creamy touch. The strongest flavor is the blue raspberry, so if you love that flavor, you’ll love this. The Sprite adds a nice carbonation. It’s festive, fun, and refreshing.

Red, White and Blue Punch

Whew…that’s a lot of food and drinks, but that’s what we do. We’ll be back with even MORE food and drink reviews, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

Disneyland’s Park Hopping Policy Changes June 9th

We’ve got MASSIVE news out of Disneyland Resort. It’s news we’ve been waiting on for literally YEARS, and now it’s finally time.

Disneyland

Ever since the parks reopened after the 2020 closures, there have been restrictions on when guests have been allowed to park hop between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Finally, after 5+ years, those restrictions are FINALLY going away!

On the Disney Travel Agent website, it’s now been posted that, “Beginning June 9th, 2026, Disneyland Resort guests with Park Hopper tickets and Magic Key passes will be able to cross between parks without having to wait until 11 AM, subject to availability of the applicable park.”

DCA Entrance

Now, it’s important to note that guests will still need to make a park pass reservation and indicate which park they plan on starting in, so Disney can get an idea of how many people will be in each park at the start of the day. However, this rule going away will allow a lot more flexibility for those looking to experience both parks in one day. Especially for locals who may want to spend some time in the parks on a whim!
