The MAJOR Reason Why This Popular Disney Parade Isn’t Happening in 2026

Oogie Boogie Bash in Disney California Adventure is just a few short months away, and we’re already gearing up for tickets to go on sale on June 18th (though Magic Key Holders get early access on June 16th).

It’s already been announced that there will be some pretty significant changes at the party this year, with one of the biggest being that the popular Frightfully Fun Parade won’t be taking place. Instead, Disney has added a new addition that highlights Madame Leota and Haunted Mansion, but what exactly is the reasoning behind the lack of parade? Well, once we heard it, we realized just how much it made sense.

Just a few days ago, Disney confirmed a few of the offerings coming to Oogie Boogie Bash this year, and their wording subtly announced that the new Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party would be replacing the iconic Frightfully Fun Parade this year. That’s certainly a bummer, as we love the parade (though we are looking forward to seeing what this new offering will look like), but what’s the reason for the change?

Frightfully Fun Parade

According to the Orange County Register, it’s believed that the reason for the lack of the parade this year is due to the current construction in the park on the new Coco attraction. As the Haunted Mansion section of the parade is many visitors’ favorite, we can totally see why Disney decided to center their new attraction all around that theming. From the concept art, it looks like we’ll get to see Madame Leota herself, as well as the grave diggers, ballroom dancers, cemetery caretaker, and, of course, some ghosts.

Frightfully Fun Parade

The new Coco attraction is expected to arrive in the area south of Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta and behind Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, in a Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier area that is predominantly backstage right now. This will be the first-ever Coco ride to exist, and while it may not seem like we can see a lot of construction right now, it’s possible that the issue for the parade would be the backstage space that’s currently under construction — those floats do take up a lot of space! All we know about the ride right now is that we’ll be joining Miguel on a special journey, seeing characters and hearing unforgettable songs from Coco on a trip to the Land of the Dead.

Going to miss the Headless Horseman, who usually would ride down the parade route ahead of the rest of the floats? Don’t worry, Disney has confirmed that throughout the night, you’ll see Ichabod Crane hurry through the park as he tries to evade the sinister specter of the Headless Horseman astride his dark steed. Yes, that means we should be able to see BOTH characters, which is super unique!

Everything NEW Confirmed for Disney’s Oogie Boogie Bash This Year

3 June 2026 at 10:40

Let’s just skip straight through summer and start thinking about fall, specifically Halloween Time in Disneyland. Now, it’s my opinion that Halloween Time in Disneyland is the BEST time in Disneyland because Disneyland goes ALL out for the spookiest holiday of the year.

Oogie Boogie at Oogie Boogie Bash

That includes the special ticketed event Oogie Boogie Bash, which is so popular that all of the parties sell out within DAYS. There is already so much to see, do, and eat at Oogie Boogie Bash, but Disney just confirmed something NEW will be coming to this year’s party.

Oogie Boogie Bash is happening on select nights in Disney California Adventure from August 18th through October 31st from 6 P.M. to 11 P.M. Tickets go on sale on June 18th at 9 A.M. PST, although Magic Key Holders will be able to purchase a limited number of tickets early, on June 16th. Ticket prices range from $139 to $199, depending on the date. Tickets include unlimited PhotoPass downloads, as well as entry into the park as early as 3 P.M.

Something NEW is coming to this year’s party: Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party. This party will bring iconic moments from the Haunted Mansion to the streets of California Adventure. It will feature multiple “moments for Madame Leota to host her spirited séance and swinging wake filled with happy haunts, ghostly dancing, and ghoulish delight, inviting you to partake in a ghastly good time that beckons all 999 ghosts.”

This year, the Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party will offer something new: a preferred viewing area for Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake.

Disney also confirmed what would be returning to this year’s party, including the Villains Grove, the treat trails, character experiences, and a free event guide. The Oogie Boogie Bash VIP Tour will also return, starting on August 30th. This VIP Tour includes both Park Hopper admission and event tickets to Oogie Boogie Bash, but you’ll also get a dedicated VIP tour guide who will customize your experience around your priorities and must-dos.

Oogie Boogie Bash is returning to Disney California Adventure from August 18th to October 31st! Tickets will go on sale beginning June 18, 2026, no earlier than 9 AM PST, with pre-sale opportunities for select groups like hotel guests and Magic Key Holders. Disney just announced a NEW street party coming to Oogie Boogie Bash for the first time, and it sounds like it will be a hauntingly swell time!

Oogie Boogie Bash

“Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party” will bring familiar and iconic moments from the Haunted Mansion to the streets of California Adventure. The new street party will feature multiple show-stopping moments for Madame Leota to host her spirited séance and swinging wake filled with happy haunts, ghostly dancing, and ghoulish delight, inviting you to partake in a ghastly good time that beckons all 999 ghosts.

Haunted Mansion grave diggers

This new experience is seemingly replacing the Frightfully Fun Parade. Plenty of returning experiences will be coming back to Oogie Boogie Bash, though — including Haunted Mansion Holiday and SO much more.

Plaza de la Familia will return and run through Día de los Muertos, ending on November 2nd. Let the music move you during “The Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia Celebrate the Musical World of Coco!” as a traveling troupe of storytellers brings songs like “Remember Me” and “The World Es Mi Familia” to life. You’ll also be able to sing and dance along to live mariachi music at the Paradise Garden Bandstand.

Plaza de la Familia

As part of Plaza de la Familia, expect limited-time eats and treats! Paradise Garden Grill will offer specialty menu items just for the season, including the returning Chilaquiles Carnitas Torta with red chilaquiles, refried beans, avocado spread, queso fresco, pickled red onions, and a fried egg served with chips.

“Recuérdame”

That’s a LOT of spooky fun coming to Disneyland Resort! We’ll be on the lookout for even more Halloween updates you need to know about. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more.
