This attraction will be a boat ride and will take place about one year after the first movie. It will show how music connects us all and how the love of family spans generations. Guests will enter the ride from a museum dedicated to the music of Miguel’s great-great-grandfather, Héctor Rivera. And then it’ll be time to board the boat where you will travel through Miguel’s memories of his time in the land of the dead!

And the best part? EVERY guest can experience it because this ride will have NO height requirement! So, as the ride showcases how the love of family spans generations, you’ll be able to ride it alongside your family!

The attraction will take inspiration from classics like Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as use Audio-Animatronic technology to bring the skeletal cast of characters to life! It will be located near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier, which are predominantly backstage at this time.

We’re live from the event all weekend, bringing you all the latest news that Disney announces. Last night, Disney gave us news about Coco 2 in the works, and now, they’ve just revealed more about the new Coco ride coming to Disneyland Resort!

Planning guide for the ultimate Disney vacation

First, Disney told us a little more about the ride and about how it will show how music connects us all, as well as about how the love of family spans generations. We also know that the timeline of the ride will take us to about a year after the first Coco movie.

Miguel will be thinking back about the incredible journey he took in that film. You will enter the ride from a museum dedicated to the music of Miguel’s great-great grandfather, Héctor Rivera. You’ll then get into a boat where you will travel through Miguel’s memories of his time in the land of the dead. We also learned that the ride will not have a height requirement, so EVERYONE can ride.

This ride will have you stepping into the vibrant world of Coco, where you will spot characters like Miguel, Dante, Héctor, and more. The ride will highlight everything we love about Coco, the music, the Mexican culture, and family.

Disney has said that the new ride will “be filled with the characters – – and music! – – you know and love from the beloved movie. We also know the ride will take inspiration from classics like Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean, and that the skeletal cast of characters will come to life in a big way, thanks to Audio-Animatronics technology. The new ride will be near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier in areas that are predominantly backstage at this time. Construction is already well underway on the ride.

Previously at D23, in the Imagineering: Horizons pavilion, we got a chance to see a statue of Hector that will be seen in the upcoming attraction.

Statue of Hector!
