REMINDER: An Iconic Disney Ride and Restaurant Are CLOSING Next Week

1 May 2026 at 11:01

If you’re heading to Disneyland next week, we’ve got a word of warning about one of the park’s classic rides.

Pirates of the Caribbean Disneyland

Now, it’s no secret that fans say Pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyland is WAY better than Pirates of the Caribbean in Disney World, and if you were looking forward to riding this classic attraction, we’ve got some bad news: the ride will be closing for a lengthy refurbishment starting on May 4th. Ouch.

That’s right, Pirates of the Caribbean will be closed in New Orleans Square in Disneyland Park on May the 4th (which is also a HUGE day in Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge). According to the Disneyland calendar, there are no hours for the ride on May 4th through June 11th (as far as the calendar currently goes).

Pirates of the Caribbean

That’s not all, though. This closure also seems to be impacting Blue Bayou, the restaurant you’ll find INSIDE the ride. So it looks like this might be quite a huge refurbishment happening inside Pirates. Blue Bayou’s hours show that it will also close on May 4th, but there is a tentative opening set for May 21st because hours are showing on the website (Disney has not confirmed an opening timeline for the ride).

Blue Bayou

These aren’t the only closures impacting Disneyland, though. In Tomorrowland, Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters has been closed since April 13th, with no tentative reopening date announced yet. In Disney California Adventure, Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind is currently closed, but is expected to open on May 31st. Silly Symphony Swings closed recently on April 27th, with no reopening date announced yet.

We’ll keep an eye out for more closures in Disneyland and Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

CONFIRMED: This Disney Ride Will Permanently CLOSE in 2027

19 April 2026 at 10:00

One of the Disneyland Resort’s most popular dark rides has been battling a permanent closure for years, but 2027 will finally see it close its doors for good.

Say it ain’t so, Mike!

When Walt said that Disneyland would always be changing, he wasn’t kidding. While theme park expansion is very exciting, sometimes it comes with a cost. In the case of the new Avatar land in Disney California Adventure, the fallout is that we’ll be losing Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! — which is kind of a bummer. Disney revealed this year that the ride will remain open throughout 2026, but we’ll still need to say goodbye for good in 2027.

Despite being originally slated to close in early 2026 (which has already come and gone, if you can believe it), the Monsters, Inc. ride has survived — for now. The permanent closure timeline was extended into 2027 at an unspecified date, so you’ll have plenty of time to see Boo, Mike, and Sulley before they leave the park in favor of James Cameron’s box office-smashing film franchise.

Monsters, Inc. Mike and Sulley to the Rescue!

A ride that generally garners steady wait times, this dark ride takes passengers through an abridged retelling of the first Monsters, Inc. film. Packed with plenty of humor, heart, and air conditioning — this ride has been a favorite of fans of all ages since it replaced Superstar Limo in the early 2000s.

Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!

A LOT is going on at California Adventure now, as Disney is doubling the size of Avengers Campus with two new rides and a new Coco ride in addition to everything going on in the Hollywood Land Backlot area.

Recently, Disney filed a permit with the City of Anaheim regarding the Monsters, Inc. ride demolition, as well as the removal of the Hollywood Lounge beverage stand in the same area.

The new Avatar land is not expected to open until 2028 or 2029, and as of this writing, no visible progress has been made — at least from the general public’s perspective.

Avatar Land ©Disney

This new Avatar land is unique from Pandora in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, which is based on the first Avatar movie. This California-based land will instead be inspired by the sequel films and will contain at least one unique ride. We still don’t know much about it, but Disney has teased that it will be an adventure boat ride. Crossing our fingers that it’s like the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Shanghai Disneyland!

We’re excited to learn more about this land and its attractions, and we’ll be sure to keep you posted on all the latest info once it rolls in!

2 Disneyland Rides Reopen THIS Month, Including The Jungle Cruise

18 April 2026 at 12:55

Disneyland has seen a lot of closures lately. There are three current closures at Disneyland right now  – Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin, and the Disneyland Monorail – and the Silly Symphony Swings are set to close on April 27th.

Disney California Adventure

But now, we have some good news: two closed Disneyland attractions are reopening this month!

The Jungle Cruise closed on February 17th for routine maintenance and refurbishment with no set reopening date. Disney just quietly announced that the Disneyland ride will reopen on April 24th! This guided river tour through the African jungle is full of animals, adventure, and dad jokes.

In addition, Disney California Adventure‘s shooting game Toy Story Midway Mania! closed on April 4th. This will also reopen on April 24th! Join Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and more toys in Pixar Pier to test your skills.

The Disneyland Monorail also closed on March 30th with no set reopening date. The high-speed transportation system connects Disneyland park to the shopping center, Downtown Disney.

Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters closed on April 13th with no set reopening date. On the Disneyland ride, you’ll take aim and fire your laser to defeat Zurg during a thrilling space battle!

In addition, the Silly Symphony Swings will close on April 27th with no confirmed reopening date. The Paradise Gardens Park ride takes you into the air to see DCA from above!

Pirates of the Caribbean will be closing for refurbishment on May 4th.  Blue Bayou Restaurant will also close on May 4th for refurbishment with a projected reopening in late May. Blue Bayou will have a modified dining experience when it reopens due to noise and obstructed views of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. It’s possible that the reopening of Pirates could also follow this late May timeline, but Disney has not confirmed.

Disney Files NEW Permit For Permanent Ride Closure

14 April 2026 at 11:18

According to the Orange County Register, Disneyland has filed for confidential demolition permits for the Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue attraction in Disney California Adventure.

These permits were filed with the city of Anaheim for the attraction, along with the Hollywood Lounge beverage stand nearby.

Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue will remain open till 2027, even after Disney originally listed the closing date in 2026. They pushed the date back and said it would have no impact on the construction timeline for the new Avatar-themed land coming to the space.

Disney California Adventure is getting this new Avatar land, the West Coast’s first Avatar-themed area, and will mostly be based on The Way of Water and Fire and Ash. Disney’s concept art shows a lot of water elements, including a water ride where guests are in boats.

Disney has been loose with the details, not specifically mentioning timelines or specific elements, and while rumors have been populating that they might instead switch from Avatar to a Zootopia-themed land, especially after the success of Zootopia 2 at the box office, no official announcements have been made.

©Disney

There is also a Coco ride coming to Disney California Adventure! The ride will be filled with music from the movie as you join Miguel on a trip to the land of the dead. It’s the first-ever Coco ride in a Disney park. Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro said, “We’re bringing our skeletal cast of characters to life in a big way through the latest audio-animatronics technology. These figures will appear in ways you’ll have to see to believe.” We also have not heard any further details, but we’re very excited for the ride.

A Popular Disney Ride Is CLOSING Tomorrow (With No Reopening Date in Sight)

29 March 2026 at 08:00

Disneyland is keeping fans in the dark about a looming ride closure.

Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin

It’s a great time to visit the Disneyland Resort, thanks in part to the incredibly fun 70th Anniversary celebrations! While expansion projects are underway and there is a bit of construction, most of the offerings are still up and running. I say “most” because a popular ride in Mickey’s Toontown is about to temporarily close TOMORROW, and we have no idea when it’s going to reopen.

Right now, the Disneyland refurbishment schedule is showing that Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin is set to close for a refurbishment tomorrow, March 30th, 2026, and there isn’t a reopening date listed.

Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin Lightning Lane

At the time of this writing, the ride will be closed at least through May 7th. While it could still open before that, Disney has now set a window to keep the ride closed for over a month. Maybe even far longer. There has been no notice of any narrative or major attraction changes like the one a few years back when Jessica Rabbit got a new detective theme, but it does appear the closure is to provide Disney with ample time to make structural, electrical, and effects-based upgrades.

Detective Jessica Rabbit Animatronic!

One of the more popular rides at Disneyland, Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin is based on the beloved live-action-meets-animation film Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and entertains passengers in a spinning taxi cab as they follow Roger Rabbit and Benny the Cab as they pursue Jessica Rabbit and the villainous Weasels.

But that’s not all that’s closing tomorrow. The Disneyland Monorail will also be closed for a lengthy refurbishment with no reopening date listed.

Disneyland Monorail

The Monorail is no stranger to refurbishments, as it often requires safety inspections and reinforcements. This closure is coming on the heels of an incident that left riders stranded on the elevated track for a long period of time earlier this year.

Keep in mind that the monorail goes between Downtown Disney and Tomorrowland near Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, so that “shortcut” will be unavailable to you if you’re planning a visit soon.

BAD NEWS: Fan-Favorite Ride Announces Lengthy CLOSURE at Disneyland

23 March 2026 at 12:01

Attention all Disneylanders, we have some bad news.

Disneyland Sleeping Beauty Castle

Another ride closure will be hitting Disneyland, this time in New Orleans Square. Here’s everything we know.

Click for your FREE Disneyland Snack Map

The Disneyland app shows that Pirates of the Caribbean will be closing for refurbishment on May 4th. This ride is a true Disney gem that takes you back in time to the age of the pirates, and if you keep an eye out, you might even spot some familiar faces from the movie franchise!

We already know Disneyland fans will NOT be happy that this ride will be experiencing a closure. Especially, since it is one of many rides in both Disneyland and Disney World currently facing ride closures.

Pirates of the Caribbean Disneyland

Between the ongoing closure at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and all the other construction in Disney World, to the Monorail and Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin closures in Disneyland, Disney fans on both coasts are definitely getting their fill of inconvenient closures and delays.

Plus, Pirates is not the only Disneyland favorite experiencing a closure.

Pirate Redd in Disneyland

On the Disneyland Website, it notes that the Blue Bayou Restaurant will also be closing on May 4th for refurbishment and has a tentative reopening sometime in late May. It’s possible that the reopening of Pirates could also follow this late May timeline, but Disney has not confirmed.

Disneyland Pirates

And if you’re planning a Disneyland trip, we highly recommend checking out the Blue Bayou Restaurant because it allows you to eat inside the ride! That’s right, you can eat your meal while watching the Pirates boats float on through. This restaurant should definitely be at the top of your Disneyland list!

Pistachio Lemon-Basil Pasta from Blue Bayou

It’s important to note that Disney confirmed Blue Bayou will have a modified dining experience when it reopens in late May. This is due to noise and obstructed views of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
