This Classic Disney Ride Looks TOTALLY Different

10 June 2026 at 09:28

When we’re at Disneyland, we love hopping on the Disneyland Railroad and taking a joyride around the park. There are so many amazing sights to see between New Orleans Square, ToonTown, and, of course, Main Street, U.S.A.

But when we rode the Disneyland railroad yesterday, we noticed that one of our favorite scenes looks totally different!

We love the dinosaur scene of the Disneyland Railroad, where you can see Triceratops, T-rexes, and goats exploring the wilderness. But when we rode yesterday, this area was gone!

Dinos!

The scenes have now all been covered by a black tarp, and there are only cardboard cutouts of our favorite animals! It was a pretty disappointing ride compared to what we’re used to. You can watch our ride-through here:

NEWS: Disneyland Announces ANOTHER Ride Closure for This Summer

9 June 2026 at 09:27

There is nothing worse than finding out your favorite attraction is closed for refurbishment just as you walk up to ride it. We always want you to be aware of any upcoming ride closures. So, if you’re planning a trip to Disneyland this summer, you’ve got to heed this warning!

Several popular attractions are closing (or have already closed) for refurbishment. We always let you know when a ride is set to close, but it also helps to check the online refurbishment calendar before your trip. However, we’re here to warn you about another new ride closure that has been added to the list!

Disneyland has updated its online calendar to note that a refurbishment starts for the Matterhorn Bobsleds on July 20th. Currently, the Disneyland calendar only goes through July 21st, so it’s not clear when the refurbishment will end. There’s no additional information listed on the website at this time.

On that same day, there are also refurbishments ongoing for Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition and Pirates of the Caribbean. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters is currently closed in the park, but will reopen on June 12th. King Arthur Carrousel will also have a short closure this summer.

Closures and refurbishments can be added to the Disneyland calendar at any time, though they usually show up at least a few weeks out. It’s a good idea to check the calendar a couple of times leading up to your trip to see if any planned closures could affect you. You’ll need to go to the “Day View” section of the calendar and scroll down until you see “Closed for Refurbishment.” Don’t forget to check both parks, Downtown Disney, and the hotels!

Knowing which rides, attractions, or restaurants will be closed can help eliminate that last-minute disappointment when you arrive in the parks. It also might give you the flexibility to reschedule your trip to go at a time when your favorite offering will have reopened. Most of the time, these closures are just for planned maintenance, but occasionally, Disneyland will update rides or change them for the season. Haunted Mansion typically closes in late summer to become Haunted Mansion Holiday, an incredible The Nightmare Before Christmas overlay.

Then, recently, we saw a brief closure at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, where it was updated to include new missions themed to The Mandalorian and Grogu. The ride now has new scenes, missions, and planets available, featuring beloved Star Wars characters from the new movie and hit Disney+ series.

NEWS: Timeline Revealed for Changes to Opening Day Disney Ride

7 May 2026 at 14:53

Disneyland has already seen so many changes this year, from the Galaxy’s Edge characters to the Avengers Campus expansion. But now, even more changes are coming Disneyland’s way!

Disneyland’s Autopia

Autopia is one of the remaining Disneyland opening attractions and has mostly stayed the same over the years. But Autopia will be totally different soon!

Disney is planning to update Autopia with fully electric vehicles! This will retire the gas engines that have powered the Tomorrowland race track since 1955. According to Disney officials, Disneyland has an agreement with the California Air Resources Board to retire the current Autopia gas-powered engines in early 2027. Imagineers are currently working on the design, engineering, and testing of a fully electric Autopia ride vehicle!

The Walt Disney Company’s new goal of achieving net-zero emissions has begun to roll out in the theme parks, including reducing the parks’ overall carbon footprint. The Disneyland Resort has made a sustainability commitment to reach net-zero emissions by 2030, and part of this plan includes relying on cleaner, renewable energy sources.

Disney hasn’t announced a closure for Autopia yet, so we’ll likely have plenty of time to smell those nostalgic gas fumes the next few months. Disneyland originally announced plans in 2024 to convert Autopia from gas to electric power by fall 2026, but the project was postponed to early 2027. It’s possible that it could even be postponed again!

The 1955 opening day attraction was redesigned in 1959, 1964, and 1968. An extensive remodeling for the Chevron sponsorship closed Autopia from September 1999 through June 2000. The last major Autopia refurbishment took place in 2016 when Honda took over as the ride’s sponsor, and their 10-year contract with Honda ends this year.

We’re so excited to see what these changes to Autopia will look like on the track. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disneyland news!
