Another closure has hit Disneyland Resort, but it may not be one you were expecting.
Broken Spell Lounge
Inside the Disneyland Hotel, you’ll find a spot that has seen many different versions of lounges over the years. Currently, you’ll find the Broken Spell Lounge here, which opened back in late 2025. However, if you were hoping to stop by on your upcoming trip, that just got much harder.
The Disneyland website currently lists the Broken Spell Lounge as closed for refurbishment.Operating hours are currently posted again on the Disneyland website for dates starting October 25th, 2026.
Broken Spell Lounge is inspired by the Disney animated film Sleeping Beauty, and that’s shown throughout the theming of the space. When open, you can grab small bites like the dry-rub chicken wings, classic Caesar salad, savory steak frites, and molten chocolate cake, as well as glasses of wine and special cocktails like the Old Fashioned or Black Thorn Bramble.

If you’ll be near the Disneyland Hotel and are looking for other spots to check out, we recommend Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar for an incredibly immersive experience, the Palm Breeze Bar, as well as Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill. Not to mention, you can also order room service if you find you don’t want to leave the room.

Disneyland Resort has just announced that D23 Gold Members (those who pay for their D23 membership — the general membership is free, but often doesn’t come with as many perks) can now save a bit on their upcoming Disneyland vacations. D23 Gold Members can save 5% on select Disneyland tickets, as well as Lightning Lane for tickets purchased through the D23 offer.

Disneyland at Halloween
What exactly is D23, you ask? Well, this is Disney’s Official Fan Club, and there are numerous events that happen throughout the year just for members of the program. A General Membership doesn’t cost anything, though it does mean there are fewer events, deals, and discounts available. If you want to make sure you’re getting all the perks possible and don’t miss out on anything the program offers, you’ll want to get a D23 Gold Membership, which has three different levels in itself. The Essential Plan costs $49.99 a year, the Choice Plan costs $119.99 a year, and the Complete Plan costs $329.99 a year. Be sure to keep an eye out for deals and discounts around getting a D23 Gold membership, though, especially if you’re a Disney+ subscriber, as deals are often released. Through August 31st, 2026, you can use the code 30GOLDFAN to get 30% off any of the D23 Gold plans available!

Halloween is one of the BEST seasons to visit Disneyland Resort, especially if you head on over to Disney California Adventure. That’s right, it’s finally time to kick off the Halloween season!
Oogie Boogie at Oogie Boogie Bash
One of the best ways to celebrate the season is Oogie Boogie Bash! This after-hours event is a full night of Halloween fun with special snacks and all of your favorite villains. We’re here for the first party of 2026, and we’re showing you EVERYTHING you need to know!
The Basics
Oogie Boogie Bash runs on select nights from August 18th to October 31st and is a separately ticketed event in Disney California Adventure where the park is completely transformed into a Halloween spectacular. The event is five hours long, but with lower crowds than normal, there’s SO much you can get done!

Tickets range from $139 to $199, with nights closer to Halloween being the most expensive. The event starts at 6 PM and runs until 11 PM. You can get into the park as early as 3 PM with an event ticket, but the official party fun doesn’t start until 6 PM.
Crowds
These after-hours parties can be pretty busy, and we were expecting long lines for exclusive merchandise and characters. However, when we visited the party on opening night, we noticed that the crowds were not as intense as we expected. Even all the treat trail lines moved pretty quick!

We made sure to pick up our wristband first thing, and then we were ready to party!

These wristbands are how Cast Members check and make sure you’re supposed to be in the park for the party, so be sure to keep yours visible at all times.

Make sure you grab an event guide when you get to the park! This map will show you where to find all the characters, treat trails, snacks, and more. Photo locations for PhotoPass are also listed, and you get FREE access to them all night with your party ticket, so our advice? Take advantage of each and every one!

Who doesn’t love exclusive merchandise? We know we’re suckers for it every year! There are tons of exclusive merchandise you can find throughout the event, although one of our favorites had to be these Jack Skellington and Oogie Boogie Ears!

Treat Trails
One unique part about Oogie Boogie Bash is the immersive treat trails. You can grab free candy while walking through themed trails with some of your favorite villains. Disney provides a free candy bag when you arrive at the event, but you can also bring another one if you’d like. In fact, you can walk through these trails as many times as you’d like!

These are some of the best ways to see some super rare Disney Villains. While they’re not traditional meet-and-greets (in order to keep the lines moving), we still find it super cool. It’s a big draw each year, so expect to see some long lines — they do traditionally move fast, though! First up, we saw Yzma at her treat trail in Grizzly Peak. She is a brand-new character this year, and we were thrilled to see her make an appearance at Oogie Boogie.

You can also spot the host himself, Oogie Boogie, at his treat trail over in the Disney Animation building in Hollywood Land.

Dr. Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb has returned this year with a treat trail at the Disney Junior Theater in Hollywood Land.

You can find Ernesto de la Cruz singing to guests at the treat trail located just outside Avengers Campus in Hollywood Land.

This year, the beloved Frightfully Fun Parade has been replaced by a new offering, Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party, due to construction around the backstage area.

This year, there have been tons of Halloween eats announced for Disneyland Resort, but none of them are only available during Oogie Boogie Bash! Regardless, we did choose to snag a few treats during the party to give them a try. We headed over to Schmoozies! first to snag the Matcha Mickey-shaped Waffles filled with banana custard.

From the Cappuccino Cart, we snagged the Mickey-shaped Waffle Macaron. This is a Mickey-shaped macaron filled with salted maple buttercream, maple syrup, and chocolate-coated waffle pieces.
There’s so much coming to the resort for the spooky season, and we’ve been doing everything in our power to keep up with it all so you stay in the know. Now that the Halloween season has officially kicked off, something very high on our list was to see some of our favorite classic characters in their new costumes, and we were NOT disappointed!
When announcing what was coming for the spooky season, Disney let us know that Mickey and the gang were getting brand-new costumes to celebrate. They were described as featuring “harlequin motifs, frilled collars and cuffs, and swirling confection details in hues of orange, yellow, and black.” You can meet them in Town Square, and now that we’ve gotten the chance to see these costumes in person, we have to say they are super cute!

We had the opportunity to get a sneak peek of these new character costumes at an event. We got to see both Minnie and Goofy in their new Halloween best.

Minnie is wearing a dress with puffy sleeves, multi-pattern leggings, and a brand-new bow. The colors of this new costume are various shades of orange and yellow. The whole design feels like a drawing come to life, and we definitely think that Disney pulled through on the promise of “harlequin motifs.”
We are OBSESSED!
Next up, we got to see Goofy, who has a similar color palette and overall design. However, his outfit appears to be reminiscent of a Court Jester, which fits into Goofy’s overall silly and fun vibe very well.

It’s safe to say that we are obsessed with these new costumes, and we think they will be an amazing addition to the Halloween season over in Disneyland!

One of our favorite parts of this seasonal event is that we get to meet so many rare Disney characters. Though there’s a big difference between the meet-and-greets at this event and those at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom — there are TONS of villains to meet at Oogie Boogie Bash, and now, a new one has arrived!
When you travel on the different treat trails around the park to collect your candy, you’ll often see at least one of your favorite villains along the way. This year, there’s a new villain at Grizzly Peak you won’t want to miss. That’s right — Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove has arrived!

Disney has just announced on their @disneyeats Instagram page that a new kiosk that will serve up light bites and brews is coming to DCA later this year. It’ll be called Bountiful Valley Brews, and that’s about all we know about this new spot! Since it’s a kiosk, it’s likely this will be a grab-and-go spot rather than an indoor area or a spot with lots of seating.

First, Disney told us a little more about the ride and about how it will show how music connects us all, as well as about how the love of family spans generations. We also know that the timeline of the ride will take us to about a year after the first Coco movie.
Miguel will be thinking back about the incredible journey he took in that film. You will enter the ride from a museum dedicated to the music of Miguel’s great-great grandfather, Héctor Rivera. You’ll then get into a boat where you will travel through Miguel’s memories of his time in the land of the dead. We also learned that the ride will not have a height requirement, so EVERYONE can ride.
This ride will have you stepping into the vibrant world of Coco, where you will spot characters like Miguel, Dante, Héctor, and more. The ride will highlight everything we love about Coco, the music, the Mexican culture, and family.
Disney has said that the new ride will “be filled with the characters – – and music! – – you know and love from the beloved movie. We also know the ride will take inspiration from classics like Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean, and that the skeletal cast of characters will come to life in a big way, thanks to Audio-Animatronics technology. The new ride will be near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier in areas that are predominantly backstage at this time. Construction is already well underway on the ride.

Last night, we got a sneak peek at the Imagineering: Horizons exhibit at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, and there was SO much to take in!
Levitating droids are here!
If you’ve been excited about the levitating droids on their way to Galaxy’s Edge, you’ll be thrilled to hear this update. We got a look at what those levitating droids may look like working behind the snack cart, and were VERY impressed!
At the Imagineering: Horizons exhibit, which officially opens to the public today on the first official day of D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, we got a look at Hugo’s Sweets & Fizz, which is the snack cart Disney has previously talked about bringing the levitating droids to. While we didn’t see droids behind it this time, we did get to see Grogu bouncing around, helping to get people’s “orders” ready to go.

From what we were able to see, Grogu would pop up and move around behind the counter. In front of him, we watched fake burgers move across the counter, as if he was controlling their movement with the Force. Three Galaxy’s Edge drinks also did the same, and even lowered below the counter on a trap door!

In case you missed the announcement back in July, Bloomberg got a look at some of the new technology Disney had been working on, and one of the projects was a series of floating droids that would work alongside snack carts to add additional immersion to spaces like Galaxy’s Edge. The snack carts are inspired by ones seen in the film The Mandalorian and Grogu that released earlier this year, hence likely why we see Grogu behind the counter in this example.
Super unique!
How exactly do they work? Well, the droids hover over a stationary food truck as if it were a stage. Guests will be able to order a few different soda options from a mobile app and then pick them up at the cart. The droids also have programming to put on a little “show” depending on what you order. For example, if you only buy one drink, the droid may act lonely!

With this newest release, we’ll be honest, we’re a little stuck in the middle. Disney just announced the arrival of Batuu Adventure Buddies at Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Park, and the first one is none other than an adorable Ewok. There’s only one problem — what in the WORLD is going on with his teeth?
The Ewok will be the first in the new Batuu Adventure Buddy collection, which will officially launch in Disneyland on August 13th, but don’t worry, he’ll be making his way to Disney World at a later date. You can find him at the Droid Depot, and more friends are on the way, which is all fine and dandy, but these TEETH?! Disney, what is happening?
AHH! Yep, there they are. It’s a small detail, yes, but from the moment we first saw it, now it’s all we can see. However, we will admit that this little guy has a lot of fun functionalities that will likely distract you from the horror story that is those teeth. The Ewok is interactive and has expressive eyes, motorized facial expressions, and a mix of signature sounds, including giggles, laughs, and chatter to showcase its personality, and the other two coming to the collection have the same features.

The Ewoks can also interact with other droids built in the Droid Depot, which is quite impressive. If you tap a single time on its head or tap twice on its belly, you’ll get a random response, but three quick, consecutive head taps enable two special animations: the Endor Dance Party or the Forest Call Chain. Your buddy can also be further customized with optional accessories that are available for an additional fee inside the Droid Depot. The food, toys, and tools that come with the gear sets connect directly to your pal’s left hand and trigger unique animations, sounds, and reactions — they’re more than just for show!
We’re very excited these are also coming to Disney World, because despite the teeth, we’ve got a feeling they’ll be quite popular, especially with their interactive elements. No release date has yet been announced for the other two toys coming to the collection, but we’ll be sure to keep an eye out, so stay tuned to DFB!

Menu changes at Disneyland Resort happen pretty frequently, just like they do over at Disney World. We do our best to keep an eye on them all, since we know what a jarring (and sometimes heartbreaking) moment it can be when you find that one of your favorite menu items is no longer available.
Three-Cheese Monte Cristo and Pommes Frites from Disneyland’s Cafe Orleans
We just got word from a reader that one of our favorite vegetarian menu items in all of Disneyland, located at Cafe Orleans, is no longer available. Unfortunately, when we went to go check for ourselves, we confirmed it’s true — if you were hoping to snag this popular menu item on your next trip, you’ll be out of luck.
The Battered & Fried Triple Cheese Monte Cristo Sandwich has been on both the lunch and dinner menus for years now and has been a fan-favorite, especially for vegetarians. It was $26 and made of Brie, Swiss and Mozzarella with Seasonal Preserves and a choice of Pommes Frites or Petite Caesar Salad. Unfortunately, it’s been confirmed by both our reader, Cameron (thank you for letting us know!) and a Cast Member in the park, that this item is no longer on the menu.

Don’t be fooled if you happen to take a look at the menu on the Disneyland website — while that menu hasn’t yet been updated and still shows it as available, the Disneyland app and menu inside the restaurant don’t have the option, and those are both correct. We expect the Disneyland website to be updated very soon, but just know that there is a difference at the time of writing.

This was a delicious option that we ourselves will really miss, and we know a lot of those who eat a vegetarian diet will miss it as well. In fact, Cameron let us know that both of her sons were really looking forward to trying the sandwich, as they’re both vegetarians, and were disappointed when told it was no longer available. Now, it is possible to ask for the regular Battered & Fried Monte Cristo Sandwich on the menu without meat, but it’s not the same, and we recognize that.

Disneyland Resort is undergoing tons of construction projects, largely in part due to the multi-million-dollar Disneyland Forward project in the works.
Indiana Jones Adventure
Lots of people only talk about Disney World when it comes to construction projects, but Disneyland has its own fair share. If you’re visiting in September, we’ve got some news you need to know about that may make your trip harder — two MORE temporary closures are being added to the list.
Disneyland has just added two closures to its upcoming list that will affect you if you’ve got a trip planned for September. Thrillseekers will be sad to know that Indiana Jones Adventure will close on September 8th for refurbishment, and there’s no reopening date currently set. Currently, the Disneyland calendar goes out through September 13th, and it remains closed through then.

The Mark Twain Riverboat will also close on September 8th for refurbishment, but unlike Indiana Jones, times do start showing very soon after. The Riverboat will be closed September 8th through 11th, but then begins showing times again on September 12th. This ride does often close for refurbishment, usually in small increments, so this isn’t entirely unexpected. Keep in mind that this ride does close way earlier than most others, operating only through about 5:40 PM due to Fantasmic! each night.

We love getting to try all the special treats available during the party, as well as meet some of our favorite characters, see the exclusive entertainment, and, of course, go trick-or-treating. If you’re planning to see Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake, but don’t want to stand in place for an hour to get the best spot, the Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party is perfect for you, and reservations are coming soon!
Oogie Boogie Bash begins on select nights starting on August 18th, and the Dessert Party is a great way to make sure you get fantastic views of Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake, taking the place of the usual parade this year, without having to wait for an hour on Main Street to reserve the best spot.
The dessert party starts at $94, and yes, that doesn’t include the cost of your ticket to get into the party, so it’ll be an additional cost. You’ll get preferred viewing for the streetmosphere itself, which could be extra valuable this year, since it’s the first time this particular offering has been available. Your dessert party package will include:
A signature Oogie Boogie-themed box of artisan charcuterie and cheeses with assorted accoutrements, Halloween-themed desserts, and freeze-dried fruits
Exclusive collectible enamel pin
Reserved seating for Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party in the preferred viewing area in front of Sonoma Terrace
An alcoholic beverage (for Guests ages 21 and older)
Unlimited soft drinks and bottled water, plus coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and a nonalcoholic specialty beverage
Oogie Boogie Bash
When it comes to what menu items you can look forward to, Disney has listed Artisan charcuterie and cheeses with assorted accoutrements, triple chocolate cheesecake, candy-coated chocolate crisped rice treats, Dubai chocolate-inspired filled bundt cakes with pistachio crunch, and sugar cookies. As for beverages, no details have been revealed yet on what the Oogie Boogie Bash nonalcoholic specialty beverage is, but for guests 21 and older, beer, wine, and an Oogie Boogie Bash specialty cocktail will be available.

Heads up, drink fans! There’s a new, limited-time offering at one of your favorite bars in the Disney parks, and it’s time to grab it ASAP.
Oga’s Cantina
Oga’s Cantina in both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park is one of our favorite places to go for a unique drink in the parks. Not to mention, if you’re a Star Wars fan, we think visiting at least once is a must-do, just due to the incredible atmosphere. That’s especially true now that there’s a brand new drink available, but only for a limited time!
The Disney Parks X account recently posted about the new drink available at Oga’s Cantina to celebrate the bar’s birthday! The new drink is called Alderaanian Fizz and is made with Mandarin orange vodka, blue Curaçao, ginger mule mix, pure cane sugar syrup, and soda water, topped with candied ginger.
You can grab this drink in Disneyland! Currently, there’s no ending date for the drink that’s been released, so we recommend grabbing it sooner rather than later just to be on the safe side. We know we can’t wait to try it!
The drinks at Oga’s Cantina are so unique!
Reservations aren’t required for the bar in Disneyland, but they are in Disney World. Currently at Oga’s Cantina in Hollywood Studios, there’s a special line where you can walk inside the bar, grab a drink, and then be on your way. You’ll wait for your turn outside, then head inside the bar with a Cast Member to the little open area along the bar for to-go orders. It’s been around for roughly two years, but so many people don’t know about it, and it can really save you tons of time.

Downtown Disney is undergoing lots of changes, similar to the rest of Disneyland Resort, and there’s one restaurant we’re really looking forward to finally experiencing.
Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby
Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby is a new restaurant coming to Downtown Disney with an expected opening timeline of the latter half of 2026. The restaurant is brought to life by both Gordon Ramsay and the creators of Earl of Sandwich, conveniently located right next door, and now, we’ve just gotten our first look at the INSIDE of the new restaurant!
The restaurant just revealed a first look at the interior of the restaurant on their social media, saying that the restaurant will bring “the vibrant spirit of London’s legendary Carnaby Street to @downtowndisney with elevated British fare, inventive cocktails, and an energetic dining experience.”

Inside, the location features plush interiors and three distinct dining environments, including an outdoor terrace and bar. We also know we’ll get to hear an “irresistible soundtrack” of British Invasion rock bands while we dine, but live bands will also be playing on select evenings.

When speaking about his new restaurant, Gordon Ramsay said, “All eyes were on London in the 1960s, a full on fantastic technicolour scene of people going out and having fun. We are bringing those cool vibes to Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby. Stunning interiors, incredible food and great music, whether it’s date night or dinner with friends or family, The Carnaby is going to bring the very best of cool Britannia to Downtown Disney District.”

Just about a week after its release, one of the most affordable Disneyland Resort tickets seen in recent history has now completely sold out.
Disneyland Entrance
Last week, Disneyland released a new limited-time ticket deal for just $59, where guests could visit the park in the evening for a few hours for a much lower cost than your average ticket. The deal was popular, clearly, because now, just six days later, the ticket is no longer available for purchase.
The Disneyland website has now suspended the sale of the $59 1-Day Evening Ticket with Admission to 1 Park, though it hasn’t been completely removed from the website, meaning it’s possible it could go back on sale in the future. Currently, the ticket is listed as unavailable, but all information about it is still available to be read.
The ticket is available for use Sundays through Wednesdays from July 12th through August 5th, and being an evening ticket, admission is only allowed later in the day. For Disneyland, the ticket is valid from 7 PM to park close, while Disney California Adventure allows access from 5 PM to park close.

While there’s no telling if and when this ticket will return, Disney has also just introduced a new $71 ticket for Anaheim Residents looking to visit Disneyland Resort as well. The new deal is for a 1-day ticket starting at $50 for children ages 3 to 9 and $71 for ages 10 and up, and becomes available on July 16th. It’ll be available for trips from July 20th to October 8th, 2026, and this ticket will allow you access into the park for the whole day!

It’s immersive, it’s fun, it has (arguably) one of the best rides in the entire resort, and it’s got some pretty great eats over at the Cozy Cone Motel! Instead of cars sleeping inside each one, they’re fun small snack stands, and we find they’re often really underrated. However, we just got word that some of these spots may be closed at various times throughout the month of July — here’s what you need to know.
Disney has quietly announced that the Cozy Cone Motel spots will be undergoing some refurbishment for a limited time this July, so if you’re visiting, it’s possible you may not be able to visit your favorite. Fortunately, they won’t all be closed at the same time, which we’re grateful for!

The schedule of closures this July is as follows:
Cozy Cone Motel 2 (Ice Cream Cones) and Cozy Cone Motel 5 (Popcone) will close on July 6th and have an anticipated reopening date of July 8th
Cozy Cone Motel 3 (Chili Cone Queso) will close on July 8th and has an anticipated reopening date of July 11th
Cozy Cone Motel 1 (Churros) and Cozy Cone Motel 4 (Frozen Cone-coctions) will close on July 9th and have an anticipated reopening date of July 11th

That does mean that the second week of July is looking particularly a bit rough, but hey, we’re thankful for small miracles, like the fact that each spot is only closed for a handful of days. DCA is also full of other great dining options, so you won’t be left hanging!

A dining spot has finally reopened in Downtown Disney, and to say we’re thrilled would be the understatement of the century.
Earl of Sandwich is BACK!
We’ve had an Earl of Sandwich in Disney Springs for years now, and now it’s finally returned to Downtown Disney, the shopping and dining district of the Disneyland Resort, in its NEW spot! Disney has said they are officially open, and the grand opening ceremony is happening on July 15th! Let’s just say this spot is just as fantastic as we remember.
The new Earl of Sandwich is now open in its new two-story location, and while the line was long when we arrived, it moved super smoothly. Just like the old location, you order at one kiosk and then pay at another. On the menu, you’ll find classic favorites, as well as some fun new items, and we loved the huge assortment of freshly baked cookies and cakes.

For our main entree, we grabbed the Whole Roasted Pastrami Sandwich for $18.99, and this was fantastic.

The meat is carved to order, and the sandwich is prepared fresh on the spot. The marbled rye bread was soft, fresh, and flavorful but not too strong. The pastrami was melt-in-your-mouth perfection, and the Swiss cheese and sauerkraut were proportioned well so they didn’t take away from the pastrami flavor. The Dijonaise spread is the perfect condiment for this sandwich. The portion is giant, so though the price tag is a little hefty at $18.99, its quality is comparable to a nice sandwich you’d get at a table service meal.

For dessert, we had to snag the Cinnamon Toast Crisp Cookie for $5.99, which we watched them make right in front of us!

The cookie is giant, super soft, with lots of flavor. It’s very sweet and perfect for sharing! Ours was made seconds before we tried it, so the cereal was crunchy and so fresh. For $5.99, this is a generously sized treat that’s absolutely shareable.
We can’t get enough
We also tried the peach lemonade, which was very refreshing. The main downside here is that there’s not a ton of seating like the old location. The patio is much smaller, and there’s not a whole lot of indoor seating, so you may find yourself wanting to take your food elsewhere.

Disneyland recently just announced that they’ve made a massive change to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride — one of the most iconic figures of the attraction, the skeleton that you see sitting on the pile of riches towards the beginning of the ride, has now been turned into an animatronic with a projected face. Yes, the same type of projected face that was just removed from Frozen Ever After in EPCOT because they didn’t work well (Disney fans were QUICK to point that out).
Needless to say, fans are NOT happy about this change, and had no hesitations about sharing their thoughts. Many fans took to the comments on Disney’s Instagram post to express their dismay, like @thankyou6god pointed out the issue this change introduces in the story of the ride, saying, “You’re not supposed to see human pirates until the transition mirrored pirate and the ‘have no fear of evil curses, says ye’. This completely undermines that storytelling.” Other users, like @disneycicerone, also pointed out how this change undermines the work that originally went into the ride, saying, “Walt Disney wanted these pirates to look realistic, and not cartoony. Blaine Gibson spent hours upon hours with his sculptors achieving the right balance between Marc Davis’s humor and real human faces. Knowing that, I am not sure this creative choice is respecting the history and artistry of this attraction.”
Other Disney fans were happy to share their unhappiness in general, even without ties to what the attraction is originally supposed to look like, which we totally get. User @tannertan36 commented, “So this is genuinely the worst idea you’ve had,” while user @jennyfer212 said, “This looks atrocious. Not every new application of technology is a win.”
Many Disney fans are also upset at the fact that Disney would even think to add this technology to a ride that’s so beloved and nostalgic for many when, arguably, there was no reason to. User @robertjkral commented, “This takes a GREAT and iconic scene and unfortunately makes it now look fake. The old way, whilst not moving, looks completely, COMPLETELY real. This triggers criticism and disbelief because it looks so fake…it’s a fun idea, but it pulls you right out of the awe of the scene. One of Pirates’ most iconic scenes at that. Yeah, it’s a nope from me.”
So, what happens now? Well, it remains to be seen. Even though it’s received such heavy criticism, it’s likely we’ll see this change still happen inside the ride. That doesn’t mean future changes can’t be made, but for now, it looks like this is a change we’ll need to get used to.
